Sirisi-risi Sanitation Project:
Sirisi-risi Dolok Sanggul, North Sumatra is one of our main coffee supply; located 1,200 m above sea level, west of Lake Toba. With no proper water sources, this area is lacking of water supply and clean toilets. Sanitation issue is one of the most important social aspects, which sometime overlook. PT. Menacom initiated the project, with great help from Aurigin Pty Ltd., Australia (represented by Mr. Justin Metcalf) until we could finish the clean water tank for farmers in Sirisi-risi, Dolok Sanggul.
Project objectives and aims
· Providing easy access to clean water for community
· Providing good and suitable sanitary condition for farmers
· Reducing the likelihood of disease spreading caused by lack of fresh water
· Creating farmers health awareness
We see this project as a success as farmers are enthusiastic with easy access to clean water. With this project we are hoping farmers will slowly upgrade their life quality, as well as producing good quality coffee with the usage of clean water. In the future, we are planning for more projects for other coffee producing parts.
